Color links

Adsense changed the clickeable area of links around november.. before users could click on the whole area/description of an ad, now they can only click on the title.

In november this probably was the cause of a drop in earnings (not too big bu still noticeable). Therefor a lot of sites recommend that you change the color of the link (title) to blue, so users spot that's the link they need to click on.
But of course you'll have to test if it works for your site..

sex sells

It's an old saying, but it's true. Sex sells. The internet became popular because of all the dirty pictures you can find and lots of people are still looking for it daily.
If you want traffic to your site, try to optimise for keywords that involve this.. keywords like sexy babes, and stuff.. you probably know them better than I do :)

Don't believe me ? I have proof. A popular website links 3 times to my website. One is at an article about pinball machines. Two other links are at articles about Playboy and link directly to my Playboy pinball machine game review.

My monthly stats of referrals for this month: 15 people came from the pinball article.
Over 350 people visited to my site from the Playboy-related articles.
That's a huge difference !

I know pinball machines isn't a popular niche and I'll never get thousands of daily visitors. But I was amazed how many people visit the Playboy-related pages ! Only a small part will click to my site and the link is not on a major article about Playboy. I can't imagine how many visitors a link on a 'good' site would bring, or how many daily visitors you get when you rank within the top 10 results on google for popular adult-related keywords.. it must be a lot !

I guess it's time that I make a review of the pinball machines that feature Pamela Anderson ..

The importance of meta tags

There are a lot of mixed opinions about the importance of meta tags, and more specific the keywords and description meta tag.
A lot of people say it doesn't matter, but some add it anyway when they're making a new document. The reason why some people say it doesn't matter is that searchengines don't like the keyword spamming that people did years ago.. back then you could fill the keyword tag with a list of irrelevant keywords and your article would still be linked to them. SE's now became more intelligent and will ignore keywords that aren't used in the content of the html page too.

My opinion about these tags: they are important and you should add them.
Now I'm giving my site a new layout, I open each file and look at the tags.. some had the meta tags and other pages didn't. And weird (or not) enough, pages that do have the meta tags, in general get more pageviews and are more often the entry page to my site.
So this means that somehow SEs do give a little bit more weight to webpages that have meta tags above pages that don't have them ?!?!?!

It may not make a large difference but probably just a very little thing.. but it may mean a few visitors more a month.
